Climbing Adventure in Hattiban, Pharping
: A Day of Fun and Scenic Views On a beautiful morning, we set off from our office at 9:00 AM for an exciting climbing adventure to Hattiban, Pharping, just an hour’s drive from Kathmandu. After reaching our destination, we hiked for about 20 minutes up to the Main Crag, the primary climbing spot in Hattiban. The climb is on limestone rock, offering bolted sport climbing routes.
"Why we Chose the Main Crag Among Hattina's Climbing Spots"
“Hattiban has three main climbing areas, but we chose to explore the Main Crag due to its suitability for experienced climbers. This crag offers challenging routes that are ideal for those who have prior climbing experience. For beginners, we recommend the other areas in Hattiban, which feature easier routes and are more beginner-friendly.
At the Main Crag, we tackled a variety of routes. With 15 routes available, the grades range from French 5b to 7a (American 5.8 to 5.11c, Australian 16 to 25), offering plenty of challenges for intermediate and advanced climbers.
We chose the Main Crag because it provides a unique mix of technical routes and breathtaking views, making it a rewarding spot for climbers seeking to push their limits and enjoy the stunning natural surroundings of Hattiban.”
The location offers stunning views—while hiking up, we passed a Buddhist monastery and observed monks going about their daily routines. The peaceful surroundings and natural beauty added to the charm, making it a truly memorable experience.
After a rewarding day of climbing, we wrapped up at 3:00 PM and made our way back down, feeling accomplished and refreshed. If you’re seeking a climbing spot near Kathmandu that combines scenic beauty with challenging routes, Hattiban’s Main Crag is the perfect choice!”
